REPORT CARDS / PROGRESS REPORTS AND CONFERENCES
Report cards with each students grades or performance and absences in each class or
subject are issued to parents at least once every six weeks.
At the end of the first three weeks of a grading period, parents will be given a written
unsatisfactory progress report if their childs performance in any course is below 80, or is
below the expected level of performance. If the student receives a grade lower than 70 in
any class or subject during a grading period, the parent may be requested to schedule a
conference with the teacher of that class or subject.
Teachers follow grading guidelines approved by the superintendent that have been
designed to reflect each students academic achievement for the grading period, semester,
or course. State law provides that a test or course grade issued by a teacher cannot be
changed unless the Board determines that the grade was arbitrary or contains an error, or
that the teacher did not follow the districts grading policy.
Questions about grade calculation should first be discussed with the teacher. If the
question is not resolved, the student or parent may request a conference with the
principal.
Tutorials are required for a student who receives a grade lower than 75 in a class or
subject.
Conferences
Students and parents may expect teachers to request a conference 1) if the student is not
maintaining passing grades or achieving the expected level of performance, 2) if the
student presents any other problem to the teacher, or 3) in any other case the teacher
considers necessary.
A student or parent who wants information or wants to raise a question or concern is
encouraged to confer with the appropriate teacher, counselor, or principal. A parent who
wishes to confer with a teacher may call the office for an appointment during the
teacher's conference period or request that the teacher call the parent during a conference
period or at another mutually convenient time.
